My client, one of the UK’s oldest companies, is looking for a Senior Technical Accountant to join their external reporting team. This is the perfect role for someone looking to move into industry in a technical accounting role.

Salary: up to £75,000
This role will provide the opportunity to:
- Provide technical accounting guidance across the group, addressing new or revised standards and new business transactions.
- Collaborate with finance partners to develop and implement new financial accounting policies, and produce accounting papers for auditors and senior stakeholders.
- Assist in producing accurate and timely year-end and half-year consolidated financial statements, as well as statements for subsidiaries and regulated businesses, providing specific financial accounting information internally and externally.
- Oversee the review and preparation of Group Financial Statements and supporting notes for half-year and full-year announcements, ensuring incorporation of new accounting standards and FRC guidance.
- Conduct critical reviews of primary financial statements and key supporting notes, ensuring accuracy and proper evidence, particularly for areas like pensions and financial instruments accounting.
- Act as key liaison for external auditors during audits, oversee impairment assessments for UK CGUs, ensure IFRS 16 compliance, and assist with subsidiary financial statements preparation and review.
Ideally, you will have:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of IFRS15 or IFRS16
- Recent experience within a Big 4 accounting firm
- Strong excel skills and experience of accounting systems
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to stakeholders at all levels.
